What We Do

The Kiwanis Club of West Seattle looks to start and support projects that promote 

  • Health and nutrition,
  • Education and literacy,
  • Youth leadership development. 

Kiwanis sponsors the following youth groups to teach leadership and community service:

Circle K (CKI) Sponsorship

Our Kiwanis club supports CKI service project, assists with funding and fund raising, provides mentorship, brings snacks to meetings, and helps with transportation. We currently assist with Seattle University CKI with the Greater Seattle Kiwanis Club. We are interested in restarting another CKI at South Seattle College.

Key Club Sponsorships

Our Kiwanis club supports Key Club service projects, facilitate the Key Club meetings, provide mentorships and provide college scholarships for the Key Club students. We sponsor Key Clubs at Chief Sealth International and West Seattle High Schools. The Key Clubs have a major project of ending hunger in west Seattle and fight homelessness.

SOUTH SEATTLE COLLEGE FOUNDATION

We contribute annually to a scholarship fund which is currently assisting with fees and books at South Seattle College.

Kiwanis Builders Club Sponsor

Our Kiwanis club brings in food and treats and recognizes, supports and encourages the kids, through example, so they feel empowered to do great things in their communities. We support Builders Club service projects, facilitate the Builders Club meetings, provide mentorships. In 2024 we will restart the Builders Club. We sponsor the following Kiwanis Builders clubs:

Kiwanis Terrific Kids Sponsor

Pizza, certificates, pens and ice cream coupons! We honor student achievement through their deeds and actions at school. We are currently waiting for more members to sponsor a Kiwanis Terrific Kids club.

Scout Troop 284 & 8284

We sponsor Scout Troops 284 and 8284 providing leadership, mentoring, financial assistance.

COMMUNITY SERVICES: Kiwanis Community Service Projects

Members work repairing and package items for families at Westside Baby.

Young children, priority one Improving the life, safety, and health of the children of West Seattle.  

Camp Casey: Summer camp opportunity for children with physical challenges. 

Sponsored Leadership:

October 2024, Saturday is a worldwide day of Kiwanis Service. We have joined Adopt-A-Street and will collect trash and clean up Fauntleroy Way, from the Morgan Junction to Lincoln Park in 2023. Join us!”. 

The Kiwanis Club acknowledges that we are on the traditional land of the First People of Seattle, the Duwamish people past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe. 

HEALTH CARE ISSUES

KCCP – Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program 

Partnering with other Clubs in the Pacific Northwest and Children’s Hospitals to provide fellowships on Cancer Research. 

SIGN Working to create worldwide fractured bone repair.  

Eliminate MNT Kiwanis International 2nd worldwide service project is to eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) 

SOS – Save Old Spectacles Recycle old eyeglasses around the world.
